Oil on canvas · 24 × 24 in · Ramandip Singh

This piece came about in a chaotic sort of dance. I used thick amounts of paint while swinging the palette knife in all directions, and soon the orange covered most of the canvas. When working with the knife, I let the paint show me what kind of scene it wants to be. I noticed a figure forming in the center and built the narrative around it, then came back with a brush to add the figure holding the lantern at the bottom left. The interaction between the two can be seen as spiritual — and as representative of my two different styles.
