The first piece in my series Stories of Light.

I created this early in the year, when so many things can drag us down. After conversations with close friends and family about how to keep the most optimistic outlook on the year ahead, I felt… uplifted.

It's about having people around you to talk through problems and goals with. Sometimes I take on too much weight from my obstacles and think they're mine alone. Then I reach out to a friend, and another, and realize every time that people go through similar experiences — and get through them by talking them out.

The journey here was daunting. I set out to turn painting into my whole life and live fulfilled doing it. I've stumbled along the way, but by sharing with the people around me I remember it's really about who we become in the process, and being excited every day to try again. It's also about bringing joy to others; that joy comes back to you.

I have an incredible support system that believes in me and lights my path. Thank you for viewing — I wish you an uplifting year.
