Painted this week in honor of all the healthcare workers on the Frontlines. "Sophie". Acrylic on canvas. 12"x16".
“Hi, I am Sophie and I will be your nurse today.”
I was ready. I prepared myself for the heartache and misery that comes with being a nurse.
But today was a hard day. Two out of four of my patients died, taken off life support by no other choice from their families. One with a daughter my age, staring at the door to her father’s room crying. For the other I was the only one present, so I sat with her until the last breath.
I’m having a hard time accepting this reality, having a hard time being in those rooms completely exposed, and having the hardest time knowing I can’t touch the people I love until this is over.
